Love writing? Taradiddle 2026 invites young authors (ages 12 and under, 13–15, and 16–18) to create fun, original animal stories and win prizes!

Contest Dates

Spring: Thursday, April 16 – Monday, April 20, 2026

Fall: Thursday, October 15 – Monday, October 19, 2026


How It Works

Sign up early to receive weekly animal-themed clues starting two months before the contest.

Write an original story inspired by the prompt and submit via email to  👉 hello@guardianwhiskers.org


Word limits: 

Abecedarians (≤500 words), Juventus & Doyens (≤1,000 words).

One submission per person.


Prizes

1st Place: $150

2nd Place: $100

3rd Place: $50

Winners are also featured as published authors on Taradiddle.org.


Eligibility & Rules

Entrants must be 18 or younger.

Stories must be original; AI-generated or previously published work is disqualified.

Parents/guardians must sign up participants under 13.
